Railway Products Segment

Level Crossing

A level crossing usually known as a railroad crossing is an instance of the at-grade intersection (that is, without recourse to a bridge or tunnel) of a railway line and a road or path.

Advantages

  • Excellent surface finishing
  • RCC slab is directly resting over sleepers and rails are free as normal track
  • All maintenance work i.e. greasing, replacement of fittings, de-stressing can be done
  • Road traffic can pass smoothly

Concrete Sleepers

Concrete Sleepers can be of one piece of uniform dimensions, or of variable dimensions. Concrete sleepers can also consist of two separate blocks connected by a steel tie rod. Exceptionally, the concrete can be poured as two separate longitudinal slabs.

Advantages

  • Extra weight makes track more stable, particularly with changes in temperature
  • Less maintenance means lower ongoing costs and less track closures
  • The date of manufacture is usually molded into the top surface

Tunnel Segments

The precision of the precast segments produced are of great significance for a single-shell segment tunnel.

The dimensional accuracy influences the
  • Stability and sustainability of the tunnel lining
  • The tunnel’s tightness against prevailing groundwater
  • Acceptance of the prevailing ring loads (earth and water pressure, grouting pressures, support loads etc.) and
  • Acceptance of the driving loads from the machine passage
